Gomez will fight Jakub Wayman in a bantamweight bout
Ecuadorian rising star Harry “El Cuervo” Gomez (0-0 Karate Combat, 11-2 MMA) will switch gears from MMA to Karate Combat when he faces Jakub “Superjoke” Wayman (0-0 Karate Combat, 2-0 MMA) in a bantamweight (135 pounds/61 kilograms) fight in The Pit in Miami on Friday, Jan 24, Fajador.co has learned.
Hailing from the city of Salinas, the 22-year-old Gomez, is a member of the Combate Global fighter roster and regarded as one of the top pound-for-pound prospects from South America.
Gomez, a black belt in kickboxing and a national champion in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, will set foot in Karate Combat’s Pit following an extended hiatus from fighting throughout 2024 due to difficulties securing the travel visa necessary to enter the U.S.
Gomez last saw action on November 17, 2023 when he represented Combate Global in the company’s first-ever co-promotion with Matchmaker MMA in Bogotá, Colombia.
In a gritty performance, Gomez went the three-round distance of the fight with Juan Pablo Mendoza, but dropped a unanimous decision to the Colombian fighter.
Also 22 years of age, Wayman, originally from Kalamazoo, Michigan, fights out of Bangkok, Thailand, and is a multiple-time U.S. national champion in Muay Thai.

Luna will square off with knockout artist Aline Pereira (1-0 Karate Combat, 1-2 MMA) at the January 24 show.
