MMA Predators Salamanca Set to Represent Mexico in Europe
The MMA Predators Salamanca set to represent Mexico in Europe at the prestigious Open International Martial Arts and Combat Sports Championship. Scheduled for Saturday, May 3, in Ponferrada, Spain, this marks a groundbreaking opportunity for the team. With their participation, they aim to inspire more young athletes from Guanajuato to compete on the international stage.
To make this journey possible, the team is organizing an MMA tournament endorsed by the Mexican Federation of Mixed Martial Arts (FAMM) and regulated by the Global Association of Mixed Martial Arts (GAMMA).
Earning Their Ticket to Europe
The Predators Salamanca team secured their spot in the European championship after winning a qualifying round held in Puebla. This event, called by the FAMM, marked the beginning of their international aspirations.
Ricardo Villalón, the team’s representative, shared: “We are always looking for opportunities for our athletes to shine and showcase their talent. Through connections with the International Federation of Muay Thai, we opened doors to Europe. We are thrilled to represent Mexico in Ponferrada on May 3.”
Athletes like Alejandra Vido, Daniel Amezquita, Emmanuel Almanza, and others between the ages of 10 and 26 will compete in disciplines such as Kickboxing-MMA and K1-MMA.
First Step into Europe
This marks the first time Predators Salamanca will compete in Europe. Previously, one of their members represented Mexico in Colombia, achieving a top-three finish in their category. Now, they aim to showcase their skills in Spain and are already planning to compete in Italy this November.
Rallying Support for the Journey
The athletes are excited but face significant financial challenges. They are training tirelessly and working with professionals like Jess from Novaria Medik for physical therapy and Arénis Arias for psychological support.
To cover expenses, they are organizing raffles, selling goods locally, and seeking collaborations with sponsors. Additionally, they’ve scheduled an MMA tournament on February 21 and 23 at El Monte Hotel in Salamanca. The event, endorsed by FAMM and GAMMA, invites academies nationwide to participate.
With determination and passion, MMA Predators Salamanca aims to make Mexico proud on the European stage.
