Olympic Tae Kwon Do medalist and former UFC heavyweight Robelis “The Big Boy” Despaigne (1-0 Karate Combat, 5-2 MMA) needed just four seconds to topple Dominik Jędrzejczyk (0-1 Karate Combat) at Karate Combat 51 on Thursday night in Fort Lauderdale.
The result, which the Cuban-born Despaigne produced with an overhand right to the head, set a new record in Karate Combat for fastest knockout.
The 36-year-old Despaigne, who earned a bronze medal in the 2012 Olympic Games, was signed by Karate Combat after being released by the UFC in October following two consecutive unanimous decision losses in The Octagon.
Prior to that, Despaigne scored an 18-second knockout on Josh Parisian at UFC 299 last March 9.
