Madrid, Spain – Puerto Rican Welterweight sensation, Stephanie “La Medicina” Piñeiro (7-0, 2 KOs), is gearing up for the most significant fight of her young career. Currently ranked #1 by both the WBA and IBF, Piñeiro will face former world champion Ogleidis Suárez (30-5-1, 14 KOs) on December 7 at the Coliseo Roberto Clemente in San Juan, Puerto Rico, as part of the “Paro vs Hitchins“ event.

“I’m really happy and excited with everything happening in my career,” Piñeiro shared from her training camp in Spain. “Being ranked number one is incredible. This is what we’ve been working for. The physical and mental progress I’ve made has been huge. The sparring here in Spain has been top-notch. We’re close to a world title shot, and I’ll be ready for it. On December 7, I’ll show the world that I’m ready to conquer the championship.”
Piñeiro, the current WBA Continental Welterweight Champion and WBO Intercontinental champion, is focused on securing her opportunity for a world title shot in 2025. In Suárez, Piñeiro faces a formidable opponent who has fought some of the best in the division, and Piñeiro knows this is the level of competition she needs to prove herself on the world stage.
“This fight means a lot to me,” Piñeiro said. “Fighting in the Coliseo Roberto Clemente, where so many boxing legends have shined, is truly special. Suárez is a former world champion, and that’s the level of opponent I want. I’m ready for whatever comes. I trust my coaches in Puerto Rico, David Oyola and Jezo Rivera, and here in Spain, I’m working with Michel Limardo, Pablo Gómez, and the Spanish Olympic team. I’ll show everyone that I belong with the elite. On December 7, there will be a ‘medicine overdose.’”
The December 7 event will also feature the first defense of IBF Jr. Welterweight Champion Liam Paro (25-0, 15 KOs), who will face mandatory challenger Richardson Hitchins (18-0, 7 KOs).
