Undefeated Daniel “Soncora” Marcos (16-0) will return to the octagon to face Adrian Yanez (17-5) in a bantamweight (135 pounds) bout at UFC Fight Night in Tampa, Fla. on December 14.
Hailing from Lima, Peru and fighting out of Boca Raton, Fla., Marcos, 31, will be fighting for the second time in 2024, after defeating John Castaneda by way of unanimous decision at UFC Fight Night in Louisville, Ky. on June 8.
The fight will be Marcos’s fifth in the UFC since being awarded a contract with the promotion after a successful showing on UFC CEO Dana White’s ‘Contender Series’ where he defeated Brandon Lewis via unanimous decision on September 13, 2022.
Marcos rose through the ranks of Peruvian promotion 300 Sparta, winning 11 consecutive fights in the promotion, in order to grab the attention of the UFC.
The 30-year-old Yanez of Houston, Texas followed a similar path to that of his opponent, earning a UFC contract as a result of a victory on a ‘Contender Series’ card during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic in August 2020.
Yanez, who will enter the UFC’s octagon for the ninth time when he faces Marcos, scored a stunning, 39-second knockout on Brady Huang on that ‘Contender Series’ card.
Since joining the UFC ranks, Yanez has secured four of his five UFC victories by way of (T)KO.
